Wide Area Network Consultant    7/02 - Present

Provide continuing Wide Area Network support to Internal Revenue Service as an independent contractor under the final three years of the Treasury Communications System (TCS) contract. Services include all WAN related responsibilities performed while formerly working for SRA International under TIPPS II, in addition to advancing to Level III engineer status. Position involves more in-depth analysis and troubleshooting, as all network issues forwarded to Level III cannot be passed up to a higher group. Technologies include IP routing over Frame Relay, ATM, Metropolitan Area Ethernet, and dedicated serial links.

 

SRA International, Fairfax VA 

Network Engineer    6/00 – 7/02

Provided Level I and Level II network support for the Internal Revenue Service Network Management Center in the New Carrollton Federal Building for the TIPPS II Network Support contract. Responsible for Wide Area Network troubleshooting and  fault management on all Cisco routers in the IRS nationwide network. Investigated and resolved telecommunications circuit outages including Frame Relay, ATM, and dedicated 56K/T1/T3 leased lines. Interfaced with the network service providers for timely resolution to network problems. Examined Wide Area Network topology and constructed detailed network maps for troubleshooting and design purposes using Visio 2000. Provided extensive design documentation support for the IRS Border Router Redesign Project in 2000/2001. Subsequently mapped out the entire IRS nationwide network topology in Visio 2000 to reflect the new design, and created and managed a simple website which presented a user-friendly interface of these drawings to the IRS management.
